Friends of Pitminster

Games

The family's history, playable. Both games run in the browser on a phone or a laptop, cost nothing, and were made by and for the family. Every square and every stop carries a line of the real history; where a story is a tradition rather than a document, the game says so.

Treatopoly

Playable now, on a phone or a laptop. Two to six players.

The family's board game. Forty spaces run in order from Set Sail 1637 to Return to Pitminster: the Atlantic crossing, the Passaic voyage, the Pownall expedition and the Penobscot survey are the four journeys, Treat Mills and the lobster cannery are the utilities, the Stocks stand in for jail and Andros Arrives sends you there, and free parking is a lobster bake. The Charter Oak and the Family Bible are the two decks. Play online with family in other houses, or against bots named for the ancestors.

Tap the dice to roll. No trading and no auctions; the host can call the game at any point and the biggest net worth wins.

The Treat Trail

Playable now, on a phone or a laptop.

The first of the family's games, in the style of the Oregon Trail. Three hundred and eighty-nine years from Pitminster: the Atlantic crossing, Wethersfield, Newark, the Penobscot, and on. Buy provisions, mind the rations and the weather, and get the family through. Every stop carries a line of the real history, and the road ends where it began.

These are fan-made family histories. The landscapes, buildings and people are stylised. If a date or a name in them is wrong, tell the editors and it will be fixed in the next version. The family keeps its own page, with the games, the notable Treats and the line of descent, at treatfamily.org.
